Centre Director(s)
Hello. My name is Jane Blakey and I am the Kumon Instructor for the Dorridge Study Centre. Like you, I care about my children's education a great deal and I have experienced first-hand how the Kumon programme can help children excel. My own son, Patrick, progressed through the maths programme for five years eventually reaching Level I at the age of 15. I know how much hard work and commitment is involved for both parents and children alike when studying Kumon and therefore how important it is to find different ways of motivating both you and your child. I also experienced the reward of seeing Patrick make dramatic progress not just academically but also in taking responsibility for his own learning so that I can step back and trust that he will complete school homework and prepare well for exams – this is why I am so passionate about the Kumon approach! Beyond my role as a Kumon parent, I am a qualified accountant which, as well as giving me a good grasp of numbers, has given me an attention to detail and focus on organisation. As management accountant, I supported my husband's executive coaching business for seven years enabling me to understand the importance of professional customer service and efficient administration if life is to run as smoothly as possible for all involved. Recently, I refreshed my own English and maths skills through completing Level 2 certificates in both subjects at Solihull College. I will be pursuing the Kumon programme myself so that I can speak from first hand experience to guide students and parents alike. I hope you and your child will share my enthusiasm for the Kumon method of learning as you get to know the programme and the centre. As a next step, please call or e-mail me to organise a free enrolment discussion where I can answer your specific questions and discuss your child's individual needs including using a diagnostic tool to understand their correct starting level on the programme.
