Personal Message
We offer an individualised study program in Maths and English. We say "yes" to those children who may need extra support, "yes" to those who are ahead of their peers, and "yes" to those who just need that extra confidence boost.
Further Details
Classes
The Centre itself provides a personalised Maths and English learning programme. Our students come from virtually all the schools in our surrounding area; primary, secondary, state and private. Progress does not depend upon age, so, if younger students have the ability, they can move through the work swiftly and ahead of their school level, thus avoiding boredom and frustration. Equally, less confident children who are struggling at school, can progress at a pace to suit them, without feeling that the curriculum is moving on and leaving them behind. The common aim is to make all students fluent in their work so that they can achieve their long term goals.
Ages and Levels Covered
The program is well suited for adults as well as children from pre school right up to A levels.
Our focus is on promoting independent learning by taking children back to basics and concentrating on key topics. On the Maths programme they develop their numeracy skills as well as concentration, mental agility, accuracy and fluency. The English programme focuses on reading comprehension skills but also builds skills in grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and spelling, as well as fostering a love of reading. Both programmes complement the school curriculum.

Centre Director(s)
I have a passion for teaching and learning, coming from a family of professors. I believe that every person is a student for life as he/she is constantly learning from life's experiences.
I love what I do and the best part of being an instructor is helping children feel that they can succeed at what they do. I want to give all students in the Waltham Cross Community the opportunity to learn, to build self confidence and to reach their potential.
About Us
At Kumon Waltham Cross we have no set arrival times – children arrive at any convenient time on their particular day(s). Students swap their completed homework for new homework when they arrive at the centre and collect their class work for the day. Students will typically be in class for 20-30 minutes per subject. During this time, parents are welcome to wait in the waiting area.
Students working through the English programme read a short piece of their class work. After the students have completed their class work, their homework is checked and recorded, to provide guidance where necessary.
Once the students have completed their class work, they hand the work in to be marked. Once the work has been marked, students must correct any mistakes made. Maths students working through lower levels of the programme are tested on their times tables. All students must see me before they can leave class. This gives both the student and me the chance to talk about their progress and goals and I can give them appropriate feedback and praise.
As motivational tools we have a sticker system in place. There is an Achievement Test at the end of each level to ascertain mastery of that level. The students get an Achievement Certificate for that level at the end of the month. Twice a year we have an Advance Student Roll (ASR) ceremony where we celebrate the student's achievements and hopefully motivate other students to aim high.
