Kumon is a unique method of study which aims to give each and every child skills that last a lifetime. Focusing on the vital subjects of maths and English, we can help your child to develop their learning skills and exceed expectations with our worksheet and study centre-based programmes.

Kumon offers far more than private tuition. Our aims are not just to prepare children for passing an exam or catching up with schoolwork. We aim to nurture confident, independent learners – children who will be prepared to meet challenges in school and beyond.

My name is Rachel Harvey, I am a fully qualified primary teacher and I have completed an MA in Education. I have also worked as a personal tutor specialising in maths and verbal reasoning. Having studied and taught in the education field of work, I firmly believe that children need to develop a positive mindset and the independence and motivation to become self-learners.

I have found myself that children in a large class at school can often feel they cannot 'do' maths, find reading and comprehension difficult or do not have the positive mindset to 'have a try' and rely on teachers to tell them what to do. Not all children are suited to the pace and style of lessons at school and are either bored because they need a faster pace or give up because they can't keep up.

I was absolutely delighted when I discovered the Kumon method and how it works. Having an individually tailored programme that children work through at their own pace which is flexible and suitable for all ages is fantastic. Working in small chunks, these skills are completely mastered before moving on to the next set which gives not only strong skills but a confidence in one's own abilities. What a great programme! This convinced me that starting my own centre was the best way I could help children achieve their full potential.
