11+ exam

The 11+ exam can be an important milestone in a child's life.

I would recommend (from my experience) to start preparing your child from when they are in Year 3. Depending on your location, the exam would include Verbal/ Non-verbal Reasoning aspects along with English and Maths. Verbal reasoning and Non-verbal reasoning exams are mainly to test the aptitude of your child. I always recommend parents to use several techniques and books to help their child get into the concept of Reasoning.

Maths, on the other hand, requires full operational understanding, mainly a command of the basics.  English requires an enriched vocabulary and an articulate writing style. Above all, it is the parents' continuous support and trust which will help a child to be successful.

Reading a wide variety of books are an important part of the success of your child in 11+ exam as well.

I use the learningtogether site which is a very useful resource when it comes to practising the skills.
