The problem many pupils have at school these days is that they are not given the quality academic attention that they need. This is no fault of the classroom teacher, it is simply because classes are just too large and the teacher cannot cope with the demands and needs of each and every pupil. The less "academic", shy, unconfident pupil therefore suffers greatly from not having enough undivided attention. The wonderful thing about weekly, continuous one-to-one private tuition is that the pupil can express his or her concerns, worries, fears and is given space and time to learn and grow in any given subject without any fear of judgement. This increases confidence, and the pupil can go back to school fully armed with the challenges and tasks ahead. In my experience as a tutor, whether tutoring for 11 plus, SATS, GSE's or 'A' Levels, I have found that a pupil having private tuition for just one hour a week greatly increases the pupil's chances of not only passing subjects but passing them well. I would highly recommend private tuition!
