A-level Biology

Matt Ridley is a writer of popular science books, and his book Genome published in 1999 is a fascinating review of many of the interesting features that have been discovered about how our Genes affect our personality and physique.

The human genome consists of 23 pairs of chromosomes and each chapter of the book is devoted to each chromosome in turn where Matt Ridley discusses one aspect of what is known of the function of that chromosome.  This gives us a glimpse into the future suggesting that all medicine will in the future be directed by what we know of a person's genome because it is now clear that the source of many chronic diseases have their roots in variations found in the genome.
