I have spent over twenty five years in industry, mainly in chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Having left the world of chemical manufacturing I decided to turn my skills to teaching. I wanted to give some of my experience back to the potential scientists of tomorrow. I wanted to show students that science isn't the scary monster they all think it is and there is a lot of fun and enjoyment to be had using chemistry as a career.
I want to break down the barriers that students have about chemistry, in particular, and show them the practical aspect of science is not only interesting and exciting but also very rewarding.
Let's face it, the applications of science to the ever increasing pace and requirements of life place a demand on scientists around the world. To face those challenges the science population here in the UK needs to be at the forefront of all things going on and leading the way.
To do this we need to have inspiration and innovation from this and the following generations of science students. I want to be one of those innovators and inspirers for the scientists of tomorrow.
