When trying to achieve high grades students should first learn all facts so that they have a very sound knowledge base. Then the best policy is to do as many past papers as possible. Initially complete a few using text books and revision guides and mark them very carefully paying attention to any notes added to the mark schemes. It is then important to try many papers under timed examination conditions.
There are several revision aids that are very useful. At both GCSE and A level the Coordination Group Publications revision guides are colourful, syllabus specific and easy to use. BBC Bitesize presents GCSE Chemistry in a fun and varied way so if students are fed up with books it can be a good idea to dip into the activities, videos, audio casts and on line tests that can be found there. The revision books I recommend most highly for AS and A2 are the Collins Student Support Materials, they are written by AQA examiners and have a very good past paper section at the back. The AQA website is an excellent source of past papers and mark schemes. Chemguide is another excellent website for A Level.
