Exams Are Not Scary!
Exams are not threatening when you are on top of your subject. Many make the mistake of trying to guess what may come up and not studying with the thought “Whatever comes up or doesn’t come up in the exam, I may well need this phrase or word when I use my language in real life later”. The difference in the way you approach learning is phenomenal.
I was surprised and delighted to read in the AQA specification for French A-level their vision for what the time of studying might do for the student. I quote
“Throughout the study of the topic areas for each module in French, candidates are able to explore the human condition in general, and to evaluate their own relationship within a specific linguistic community in particular…… candidates will face constant challenge in debate and study which will foster recognition and sympathetic awareness of others’ beliefs and values.”
The exam board’s outlook is much broader than fighting for every last point so ours can be too, and therefore there can be less frustration and instead so much more satisfaction.
