A-level Maths

Here are some of my top tips on how to get through your Maths exam...

As you revise and find things you don't know off by heart yet (formulae, rules, tricks, definitions etc), write each one down on a post-it note and stick them all around your house. Stick them on your bathroom mirror, your fridge, your coffee table, your computer. Then whatever you're doing you will see them, and you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll learn them. Trust me, this works!

Practise, practise, practise. It's no good staring at your notes for ages. Just keep doing examples- as many past papers as you can. You might be able to make up your own questions. You can find more questions to practise online. I really recommend the BBC bitesize websites.

Teach someone else. Get together with a friend and quiz each other on methods - make up or give questions to each other and take it in turns to be the student/teacher. It's really helpful to see how other people do things, and teaching something helps you understand it really well.

Keep it fun and enjoyable. Think of tunes and ditties to remember things. Have rewards for yourself every time you get a correct answer or finish a paper. There are games online to practice things, and loads of youtube clips. Here's one you might enjoy if you're at GCSE level http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z4SUypJZxo.

And for you A level students, here's a joke.  eand sinx were at a party. sinx was having a great time, he was the life and soul! ex just sat in the corner, sulking. sinx saw him and said "Why don't you try integrating more?" ex sighed miserably and said "I've tried, but it doesn't seem to make any difference."
