I can remember my first day of University, I had come from a small school in Scotland located in the countryside and all of a sudden I was launched into this big scary world of, firstly a city and secondly university.
I was somewhat uncertain how to react to my new surroundings, subjects and other students until I sat in a class called development and underdevelopment of society. My ears immediately pricked up as I heard my professor begin to speak. I was in love with this subject!
The more sociology classes I attended the more excited I became realising that this was an area that was firstly an underdog of the academic world but secondly and more excitingly is the foundation of who, where and what we are today!
My advice to any student who perhaps struggles, is to remember that they like Sociology are not an underdog but just their true potential has not yet been realised.
