Recommended Reading
Below is a suggested list of what equipment should be in your Art Kit, and good quality inexpensive brands that give professional results:
For Drawing:
Derwent Graphic Pencils ranging from H-9B
Putty Rubber
2 x Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser (with cardboad sleeve)
A pencil sharpener for thick and thin pencils
Derwent Charcoal Pencils ranging from light to dark
Willow Charcoal sticks (thin)
Daler Rowney A3 heavyweight Cartridge paper
Daler Rowney A3 lightweight cartridge paper (or a cheaper brand for rough sketches)
Indian Ink
System 3, Daler Rowney Brushes (round) ranging in size
A1 drawing paper (usually sold in sheets) - heavy paper for inks, lighter paper for drawing. Will vary from shop to shop.
For Painting:
Winsor & Newton Galeria Acrylic Paint (or System 3 which is less expensive)
Winsor & Newton brushes for acrylic paint in a variety of sizes (flat and round)
A rag or old dish cloth
Primed and stretches canvases or boards.
Gouache paint set (Winsor & Newton or System 3)
Other Useful Things:
A bone folder (for crisply folding paper)
1m metal ruler
60cm ruler
Compass and pencil
Fine liner pens for drawing
Scissors
Stapler
Hole Punch
Masking tape
Scellotape
Newsprint
