The Benoy & Burrowes First and Second Year Violoncello Method books are very good books to start learning the cello with. Every piece has an accompanying part for the teacher to play, from the very first four-bar pieces for open strings, which means that even the pupils initial efforts are musically satisfying. It also enables the pupils to start learning to listen and to develop the necessary skills for playing with others.
