Goyescas is an one act and three tableaux opera which composed in 1915 by Enrique Granados (1867-1916). This work was inspired by the painting of Goya. The libretto was written by the Spanish librettist, Fernando Periquet y Zuaznabar and the melodies taken from his own work, piano suite, which also called Goyescas in 1911. The premier was at Metropolitan Opera in New York, 1916.
The Intermezzo from Goyescas is an all-Catalan affair, music by Granados transcribed by Casals’s favorite pupil Gaspar Cassadó.
