Cello

From the age of five, I have been a devoted cellist and, along the way, I have picked up a variety of useful tips in learning how to love and play the cello at all levels.

For a beginner or very young cellist, feeling comfortable with your instrument is key. I recommend getting these books as a starting point: Cello Time Joggers(comes with CD) for children or for adult learners, Benoy Burrowes Book 1.  At this level, playing your heart out and having fun helps more than any teacher would ever say, as it will set the foundations for still enjoying your instrument whilst learning harder repertoire and building technical abilities.

As an intermediate performer, the following publications help establish a solid technical basis: Lee Studies, Vivaldi sonatas and 10 American Cello Etudes. Good technique and a keen ear will accelerate learning to a more advanced level.
