Cello

Music is great! What would we do without it? It can express something important, yet on a daily level we just enjoy it. It makes us feel all sorts of different things, excited, happy, sad, emotional, triumphant, calm, but most of all it just makes us feel something in a way that nothing else can. Music is a spark in all of us.

Learning an instrument gives us discipline, teaches us to keep working at something and not to give up, develops our dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination, focuses our attention, develops our memory and hipocampus (the bit of our brain that gives us sense of direction), teaches us to evaluate our own progress and improve, gives us confidence, and reading music and applying the technical skills to our instrument is definitely a kind of multi-tasking! But all this is because we just love music and it makes us feel that spark!

People say the cello is an expressive instrument, that it has a sound a bit like the human voice. It has a wide range and also suits lots of different styles of music, so, what a brilliant instrument to find yourself with on your musical path. Just imagine all the different kinds of fabulous music you are going to enjoy!
