As a teacher who has taught in many different schools and at home, I can highly recommend investing in private lessons for your son or daughter. Not only will you build a relationship with your child's teacher, your child will feel supported by you and encouraged to practise at home if you are aware of the content of each lesson through discusson at the end of each lesson with your teacher and child, or if appropriate, by your sitting in during the lesson. In taking lessons at school, although it can be more convenient for you, the progress of your child can often be hampered by difficulties in carrying their cello to schoolm or through the added worries of missing school lessons for their music lesson.
