Classical Guitar

Perhaps the world's favourite guitar is the Classical / Spanish guitar, sometimes known as the 'acoustic' guitar, as it doesn't need amplification because it is hollow-bodied. It amplifies itself.

These guitars are far more versatile than the solid-bodied electric guitars, which are wonderful for their purpose, but are not multi-functional. The classical / acoustic guitars don't need to be plugged in and amplified, which gives them the advantage that they can be transported easily and played anywhere. These guitars are suitable for every musical style - classical, blues, jazz, country, folk...

At the end of the day, any guitar you choose will have six strings and (approximately) 20 frets. In other words, anything you can play on a Les Paul SG can also be played on a Martin Dreadnought, or a Classical Gutiar, or a Flamenco Guitar.

The advce is, if you're a newcomer to the Guitar, don't assume you know what you really would enjoy playing the most. Speak with a tutor first so you get the bigger picture, and can make an informed choice.

Happy plucking! x
