Classical Saxophone

I recommend The Art of Saxophone Playing by Larry Teal

This book is a classic. Teal covers everything from how to choose a good reed to advanced techniques such as double tonguing and the altissimo with great clarity and intelligence, making it useful for beginners up to advanced students and professionals. Every key facet of saxophone playing is dealt with, including breathing, embouchure, finger technique, articulation and intonation, and there are sections on such wide-ranging topics as the history of the instrument, doubling, choosing the right saxophone and reed care.

Whilst the book, as Teal acknowledges, is no substitute for a good teacher, its wealth of knowledge makes it an invaluable resource for saxophonists of any standard.
