One of the most fantastic experiences I've had with relation to my musical career has been studying at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki for one term. There I learnt one of the most useful things I could have; how to practise well. I think that in 12 years of playing the cornet it was only until then that I acquired this skill.
By creating a timetable and structure and waking up early to practise in the morning I found myself to be much more productive. I then found a noticeable improvement in my playing and my practice enjoyment. This, to me, is the most important aspect of playing, because without enjoyment you lack in inspiration and drive.
I feel that by experiencing this change I can truly encourage others to do similarly.
