Elocution

It is often said 'You may never get a second chance to make a 1st impression'

As a Speech Therapy student we were taught NOT to correct local accents as they added colour to the English language. However as I entered the world of businessĀ I realised the importance of personal presentation, and how certain accents, particularly 'The Queens English ' were valued more highly and brought with them better promotion prospects.

Parents of children with Special Needs have first hand insight into how interpersonal communication skills opened doors and enabled their children to access education, social and leisure opportunities.

Friends with non-English backgrounds told me they were often looked over in discussions at meetings and how people talked down to them as if they lacked intelligence.

It is for the above reasonsĀ I became a tutor. I am passionate about all aspects of communication and want to help others progress in this area and reap the benefits of being a skilled communicator, saying the right thing, in the right way to the right people at the right time.
