It is so easy to focus on formal classroom based learning and get distracted by books and grammar, however, there are many other opportunities to practise, listen and read in everyday life. Travelling on the London Underground and buses can be really useful to get to grips with the pronuciation of those difficult London place names, and watching a soap opera can provide you with models of natural intonation and pronunciation.
Finding English books, articles, magazines and TV programmes that are of interest can provide authentic sources that are motivating and enjoyable. My recommendation is that if material is on a subject matter you already find interesting then your motivation to read, speak and listen will be greater.
