Flute

As an experienced flute tutor for beginner flautists, I would strongly recommend 'Flute Class' by Trevor Wye.

This classic tutor guide is excellent for both group and one-to-one teaching. It presents learning the flute in a challenging and engaging way, and is appropriate, in my opinion, for beginners of all ages. There are plenty of pieces in the book for ensemble playing, that also work as solos; some pieces are familiar, some are not.

There are also many pieces suitable for concerts, including many classic Christmas Carols. Overall, this book is very comprehensive, but not intimidating, even for children. It expects a high level from its users and encourages reading music as well as improvisation and creativity.
