Recommended woodwind shops in London to visit

When looking to purchase your first instrument or an upgrade it can be a daunting situation; some shops will try to sell you an instrument in which they make a big profit on and others will not have a very specific knowledge of what you are looking for and what is suitable for your standard. Below are the two best shops that I would recommend you visit if you need to get an instrument:

Jonathan Myall Music (aka Just Flutes)
This is the shop that I deal with on a regular basis. The customer service is brilliant and they have an extensive knowledge of flutes, saxophones and clarinets (amongst other instruments) as well as music for these and many more instruments. They are not pushy but will help you to make the right decision. They have just updated their website and it looks fantastic and is very easy to use! They also have a fabulous instrumental repair shop which I have used in the past - I was very happy with the results.

Top Wind
This is a specialist flute shop based in Waterloo. I bought my secondhand piccolo from this shop and was very pleased with it. They sell all types and sizes of flutes and flute music. Their staff have a great knowledge and understanding of flutes and will be able to help you find a suitable instrument for your needs. They also have an instrumental repairer in the store.
