French Horn

I have taught instrumental lessons to various groups of brass instruments, the books I have used to teach my students are shown below, with my reasons for why I find the books useful.

'Standard Book of Excellence', Bruce Pearson. - for beginners

- I have taught students who play the French Horn, Trumpet, Cornet, Tenor Horn, and Trombone using this study book.

- Caters for the different brass instruments, there is a different book for each instrument, so the students can play together in a group even if they play instruments which aren't in the same key.

- Contains tunes which the students recognise and enjoy playing.

- Contains duets at both an easy and more challenging level, this enables the students to work on ensemble and listening skills.

- Areas in the book were the students can write their own pieces, and have to work out musical phrases and note lengths, which is enabling the students to work on basic music theory.
