French Horn

So now you've learned about breathing and articulation, even sorted out most of the fingering, now what? It is really important to take a moment and consider what we love about the horn - the sound. We often get so caught up in playing the right notes at the right time that sometimes we forget this. Make sure you set aside some time every time you sit down with your instrument to make a really beautiful sound. Really listen to what is coming out of the bell! Here are some books to use when focussing on making a really good tone:

Peter Lawrance - Graded Lip Flexibilities for horn in F & Bb
Philip Farkas - The Art of French horn playing (legato warm up!)
JB Arban - Cornet Method (exercises 1-24)

Happy playing!
