French

Many current language learning courses seek to emphasise how quick and easy it is to learn a language. They even talk about how to become 'fluent' in only a few weeks. This creates high hopes and false expectations in the learner which are then quickly dashed when they realise that 'fluency' comes neither quickly nor easily.

Learning a language is extremely rewarding and can be very enjoyable. Success does not come without work, however.
