How to Pass Business Studies Exams

As I am sure you are aware by now most students find exams challenging, this is often not because of the lack of knowledge or understanding of the key Business concepts but due to the stress and worry of exams. To help students to achieve their potential exam technique needs to be improved. I hope you find the following tips helpful and use them as effectively as I have to be successful in Business Studies and other exams.

Before you even answer any questions you should......

  1. Look at how many marks each exam question is worth and manage your time using this as a guide.
  2. Underline key words in the question to make sure you answer the question fully.
  3. For essay questions create a mindmap plan allowing you to identify links between business concepts and ideas allowing for a more rounded and developed answer.

When answering essay questions you should......

  1. Define the key words from the question
  2. Discuss the concepts link to different concepts and ideas
  3. Use a lot of yes....but.... statements
  4. Look at both sides of the argument
  5. Evaluate your answer, give your opinion and explain why

This is not a foolproof guide to passing exams but is a technique that can be used to great success. I do not recommend using this technique in an exam without practising it beforehand. This can be done through by answering essay questions set for homework and see how it works for you.

Good luck and Enjoy
