Can reading really change your life and exam results?

In 2011 with the changes to the English syllabus, controlled conditions and technology a group of students worked with me last term to see if the promulgated 'myth' that reading really can change your life and improve your exam results is still true.

I'm delighted that the girls and the boys who participated in the research declared with joy and some with real amazement I must confess, that it did just that.

The students involved were all good readers who no longer read independently but through our reading group they committed to reading a book each week and to using a shared vocabulary list' from the books in their writing. All the students completed at least 5 of the 6 books and their feedback at the end of the project was overwhelmingly positive.

So...it's true...a good book can change your life....enjoy one today!
