GCSE Latin

Many students I have tutored find themselves struggling as they approach GCSE level, through no fault of their own. Most schools use the Cambridge Latin Course textbook series, and although it is great in providing interesting characters and plots for its translations, grammar is often shown as less important. New forms of words are treated like vocabulary, rather different grammatical forms, which means a lot of students don't connect them, and instead get confused by them. By learning vocabulary, clever students working logically can often do very well in spite of this up until the year before GCSE, but begin to struggle as the translations get more complicated, and the comprehensions contain more grammar questions. Although the Cambridge Latin Course is  a good series, it is important that a good grounding in grammar is also taught along side translating.
