I decided on becoming a tutor back in the autumn of 2007. I did my maths degree nearly ten years ago and haven't really used it since. As part of previous jobs I delivered training courses to small groups of adults and always enjoyed those. I also remember helping my younger sister out with her maths A-level when I was in my first year at uni (she got a B).
After doing some research and signing up with a local agency I obtained an enhanced CRB check and started with my first student in January 2008. I needed to brush up on the syllabus for three exam boards and I soon did this. I love seeing students progress in the subject and I believe that everyone has the potential to be good at maths. It is a source of immense pride to me when a student tells me that they achieved the grade that they wanted. It is so satisfying knowing that you have helped someone create more opportunities for themselves in life.
I have worked with over 50 students of varying abilities and have loved every second of it. It has been my experiences as a tutor that have sparked my decision to become a maths teacher as I feel I have the talent, the passion and the ability to help many more students.
