Speaking in a foreign language is perhaps one of the most daunting aspects of any examination. You feel vulnerable, exposed and out on a limb, especially if you're under-prepared.  The key to success in the speaking test is to give it a go and forget about making mistakes. You'll get more marks for saying something than nothing, even if it isn't completely correct.

To really impress it is vital to show you can speak in all tenses (present, past and future). You need to give your own opinions and use sophisticated vocabulary and sentence structures. Ideally you want to take control in the speaking test and not rely on your teacher / examiner to prompt you with questions. It is your chance to show what you can do.
