IELTS

The key thing I feel with my teaching, is to visualize your learning in the real world, when you see your own examples or experience then this acts very powerfully to aid your understanding.

I have recently been using this to help my students overcome the formality of IELTS. The difficulty I find is that there is no mis-understanding of meaning, it is just linking the question with the answer. Once my students have applied the meaning to their own experience then we just need to link the formalities.

I have found that students need to overcome the presentation of IELTS questioning and it is not necessarily vocabulary issues.

Read the question! What does your experience tell you? Go through the process in your mind, now search all the vocabulary and language that goes with that experience, then see if you can link this to the formal language.

I have found this to be powerful with reading tasks.
