The pentatonic scale is usually one of the first things we learn as guitarists and many people would recognise the sound from thousands of fast rock guitar solos or popular melodies but in this clip Bobby McFerrin's application of those same 5 notes reveals a completely different and beautiful character.

Music is all about communication, experimentation and fun, and these are all important things to remember.
