Jazz/ Pop Singing

Did you know that, when breathing correctly for singing, your diaphragm (the bottom of your lungs) should push your stomach out rather than in? Try it; place a hand about an inch above your belly button and as you breath in, push your stomach out. You'll be able to take in a much longer breath and it should also take away the tension from your neck and/or shoulders, meaning relaxed breathing and sustained, well-supported notes that you can hold for at least 30 seconds!
