Jazz/ Pop Singing

I have found that one of the most useful 'tools' in teaching singing and performing arts in general, is the use of Visualisation.

Even the word sounds daunting to a new student who is trying to build up their confidence to sing and perform but once they understand the concept of it and how very easy it is to do, we are able to incorporate it into each class with excellent results.

For example, when I am teaching a student about diaphramtic breathing - which in itself alone sounds scary! - I get the student to imagine a red balloon in their stomach and then show them how to 'fill' that red balloon with air and breathing techniques take on their own easy life.

It takes away the fear factor in so many ways. And we can all do it...that's the beauty of visualisation....we can all do it!
