I do not believe that we all learn at the same pace. Unfortunately, the English education system does not allow for people to learn in their own time and way.

There is no single method or time that an individual will need to reach a certain learning level. People pass their driving tests at the first, second or even hundredth attempts. That has no bearing on whether they are taught well or whether they will drive well.

I find out as much as possible about the learner and I tailor my teaching materials to suit that person. Your personality and learning-style are essential ingredients in your learning progress. League-tables and targets are part of our lives but they do not affect how we become confident and capable members of the Human Race.

Education should not be like medicine... horrible but necessary! It can be fun, exciting and rewarding.
