Key Stage 1 French

My best advice to parents wishing to improve their children's French language skills, both written and oral, from an early age, is to be creative with the teaching and relentless. I have found that aside from the dry rote of French grammar, children improve fluency quicker if they can relate to subjects and enjoy the language which hugely depends on the teacher's enthusiasm.

A favourite of mine was reading Harry Potter in French with English children or Tintin/Asterix. The same worked for teaching French children English language in Paris.

I was lucky enough to have five nephews with whom to experiment, who are now all fluent French speakers!
