Modern Greek

Although the Greek language is not one of the most widely spoken worldwide, it is excessively rich, meaningful, and used very often in our every day communication without realising it. Theatre, medicine, and mathematics are some of the fields fraught with Greek terms. Magnificent pieces of art and literature had been inspired by Greeks. One could not but have come across the works of Sophocles, Aeschylus, Socrates, Plato, C. Palamas, C. P Kavafy, O.Elytes, G.Sepheris or Dominikos Theotokopoulos (El Greco) at least once in their lives.

The Greek language is considered one of the most difficult languages to learn, yet is one of the most interesting. The teaching of Greek could begin from basic grammar rules and lead to the teaching of key literature works. As for the books to be used, these could be books used in Greek grammar and secondary schools as well as poems and novels depending on the student's level.

In addition, I would recommend the use of audio equipment which would help students to learn the accent and colloquial phrases and even become acquainted with the language through songs or audio books or other audio exercises.
