I often get asked this question: " What should I buy to make great recordings, mixes, masters?"
The answer is simple. Try to invest as much money as possible into the acoustic treatment of your room.
Your room is the ONLY tool you are going to use day in and day out and it needs to be of the best quality possible .
It doesn't really make sense to record a vocal through a u47 coupled to 1073/varimu while monitoring through a 5k monitors if you cannot judge and trust what is actually is going down on tape (well in ones and zeros in the 21st century).
Before you spend money on high end gear, makes sure the acoustic treatment of your room (and don't forget your audio cables!) are of the highest quality you can afford. ;)
