Repertoire obviously depends on the level and ability of the student. However, for child beginners I usually recommend firstly John Thompson's Teaching Little Fingers to Play, following up with Marjorie Helyer's Over the Hills or Down a Country Lane.

After that, I recommend Thomas Dunhill's First Year Pieces.

Subsequently, the student should be able to tackle Grade 1 of the Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music. It is important that the student should be conversant with the Scale Syllabus of each Grade, and practise sightreading.
