I have heared the phrase "I wish I could improvise" many times and I often wonder what this means. I think that music and feeling are inseparable. Music expresses profound emotions that cannot be expressed in words. We need to listen to our inner feelings and struggles when we improvise and through the development of technique and harmonic understanding we can then begin to express our own unique personality and sometimes create a true gem of music that had never existed before.
