The biggest key to successful progression in anything that you do is practise. It doesn't have to be a huge amount, but regular time slots spent just playing your instrument, or covering particular areas that you find difficult make the world of difference to how quickly you progress on your instrument. It may feel tiresome sometimes, but eventually you will start to see how far your hard work carries you and can then enjoy the huge range of fantastic music that is out there for you to play.
