I would strongly agree with other tutors on the ease of use of Lina Ng tuition materials for younger children. The books are very much appreciated by the children, are fun to use and provide all the necessary basics. Especially good are the theory books.

I would also agree with my colleagues that the John Thompson Easiest Piano Course is not recommended. When a student comes to me after making it as far as Book 3 I am amazed that did not put them off the piano playing completely! The pieces are rigid and there seems to be no scope for the imagination or, what is more important, interpretation. There is such a wealth of wonderful teaching material out there, both innovative and from traditional, established schools, that I would never consider using the Thompson book.
