The official language of Brazil is Portuguese, a language that was inherited from the Portuguese colonizers of the 15th century. Despite being the same language, Brazilian Portuguese is considerably different from the Portuguese spoken in Portugal and other Portuguese speaking countries. Brazilian Portuguese has received several influences from African languages that were very present in the country during the slave trade and also from indigenous people’s languages, who are the original inhabitants of Brazil.
Similar to the country, Brazilian Portuguese is a beautiful mixture of sounds, cultures, histories and colours. Learning Brazilian Portuguese is not only about learning the grammar of a language but it is also about understanding and embracing the different aspects of a culture that is a mixture of many races, peoples and values.

roberta,
parabéns pelo seu texto. Apesar de tão sintético diz o essencial de maneira muito clara. Imagino que vc é uma boa representante da cultura brasileira em Londres. Boa sorte.
