The default setting for most public speakers is to focus on being seen as 'professional, 'knowledgeable' or 'reliable'. Nerves and fear then contribute to a very cautious approach to public speaking.
Unfortunately this makes you exactly the same as millions of other speakers - and if you are not different or interesting, why should the audience remember you or, more importantly, trust or engage with you?
Good presentations must stimulate the emotions of the audience and that can only be done with compelling content effectively delivered.
