Sometimes when we think of Spanish we project our mind towards Spain and one of its beautiful beaches, but Spanish is not only spoken in Spain. As you know, almost all the countries in South America, Central America and some Caribbean countries speak Spanish and each country has its own culture and language variations. For example, in some countries in South America people say "guagua" for "child" but in others it means a bus!
I would like to recommend for beginners:
Sueños 1 by Mike González, Luz Kettle and María Elena Placencia.
It is a good book in which you are going to learn many new things about different countries in the Spanish-speaking world.
For intermediate and advanced students:
A New Reference Grammar of Modern Spanish by John Butt & Carmen Benjamin.
This is ideal for students who would like to consolidate and improve their knowledge of Spanish grammar.
