Migraines are a debilitating disease, which many people believe are food related. My personal feeling is that it is the body’s natural response to stress. Pregnancy, puberty and the lives we lead in this modern times all put stresses on our bodies, which may result in migraine.
From my own personal experience, my son started getting migraines at about the age of 12 just as he was entering puberty. A migraine would wipe him out completely for three days, and it would take another two days for him to recover.
I noticed that often his migraines were triggered by sleep deprivation, dehydration or environmental stresses, so I decided to see if he would allow me to use Reiki along with his prescribed medication to help relieve the migraine. I gave him his first two treatments when he was not in the middle of a migraine. The result was that he actually experienced a migraine afterwards, which initially put him off continuing with the treatment. His migraines however were what we in the Reiki world call a ‘healing crisis.’ This means that the Reiki treatment was going deep down to the root of the migraine, causing the negative energy to be released and bringing migraine to the surface. To understand this better, you might compare this to when we are going through some sort of emotional catharsis in life, and we can sometimes feel worse before we feel better.
Fortunately, after hearing this explanation, my son trusted me enough to try another treatment. After just two sessions of Reiki we noticed the frequency of the migraines had reduced, occurring now only once a month instead of fortnightly. Seeing this improvement, my son agreed to try Reiki yet again. This time there was no healing crisis and the space between the migraines became larger.
These days, my son’s migraines are much rarer, and when he gets the warning signs that one is coming on, he immediately asks me to Reiki his head. As a result, the pain is relieved quickly and he fully recovers within 24 hours.
Today, my son openly states that Reiki is effective in helping him recover from migraines, and he is now much more open to asking for Reiki healing in general. Recently he got ‘studded’ playing football and came home with a toe that was painful and nearly black in colour. He asked me to Reiki it. By the next morning, the toe was much better and only a small area near the nail was still black. I firmly believe that without Reiki he would have suffered for several days before healing started to happen.
I am happy to say that my son is a typical teenage boy who now realises that all “that healing stuff” I do actually works!
