I am passionate about music and wanted to find a way in which I could use my knowledge and skills on a day to day basis, so teaching became an obvious route to go down. Since I have been teaching, I've realised that there's a great buzz in watching a student not only "get" something I've just shown them, but also I really enjoying the act of being able to play that chord/song/riff - usually, if I'm doing my job properly, a piece of music they know and love.
I have honed my teaching philosophy over the years and now offer almost totally bespoke lessons to my students. As well as playing guitar, I also love talking about music so it's a privilege to be able to discuss at length with my students in their first lesson their musical likes and dislikes. It also gives me the opportunity to get to know them on a wider level - something which is very important if we are to have a good tutor/student relationship. The main thing I want my students to get out of their lessons is fun and enjoyment and I really hope I can achieve this. I never thought I would enjoy teaching as much as I do - I definitely couldn't go back to the 9-5 world now.
