I found this website after being recommended it by one of my students, so thank you Alex from Jeddah.

www.essential-music-practice.com

I found the sections on 'Methods of Practising' to be very useful. It is really good to spell out your exact goals for each week, for each practice session. You feel a clearer focus and a sense of achievement for having broken it down into goals you can tick off.

It confirmed lots of ideas that I had taught for a while. Isolating problem passages, incorporating them slowly back into the piece etc and many others. And unless you're getting the whole thing right first time at home, you're not going to get it right first time in either a lesson or a gig! Don't continue to start a piece from the beginning if it's only bar 10 that needs work. Lots of good little tips.

Whilst also remembering YOUR experience of music is what counts, and not to be intimidated by someone who can spout lots of techie-type information. Thats not what music should be about.
